The freshness of vegetables and fruits goes down due to the surrounding environment they are in even if they are stored or transported at low temperatures. There are various deterioration factors depending on the vegetable and fruit, and these include putrefaction gases such as acetaldehyde, ammonia, and ethylene gas which is a plant growth hormone, water evaporation, low temperature damage, mold, bacteria, etc. Their effect on the vegetable and fruit also varies. With the special catalyst coconut shell activated carbon,“ VEG-FINE®” eliminates putrefaction gases, controls humidity, and kills bacteria by establishing a CA environment inside the pack, and so delays the progress of ripening, softening, and discoloration of vegetables and fruits, and maintains their freshness for a longer time than in normal low-temperature storage. We made a freshness-keeping agent that can be used safely with vegetables and fruits by loading a catalyst into a natural coconut shell activated carbon -“ katsuryokutan Carbon®”, using no hazardous substances, and just food additives and organic compounds safe for the body.
|Plants such as vegetables, fruits, flowers and the like release ethylene gas, a plant hormone
that promotes the ripening and decay of the plant itself. Even trace amounts of ethylene gas
released by various vegetables, etc. will gradually build up inside a refrigerator or display case,
which hastens decay.
●The product is an ethylene gas decomposer wherein a high-quality coconut shell activated carbon with excellent adsorbing action is loaded with precious metal catalysts palladium and nickel. The activated charcoal adsorbs the ethylene gas, which is then decomposed by the catalyst to suppress ripening and preserve the freshness of fruits and vegetables.
